Thank you. I remember.

To the one who left the comfort of home to enter the battlefield, and never returned
To the one who spilled blood on the altar of freedom
To the one who returned home maimed and disfigured
To the one who will never walk again

Thank you. I remember.

To the one left behind, forgotten by all whose liberty you helped buy
To the one languishing in prison
To the one who returned to the ridicule and ingratitude of an insolent and spoiled nation
To the one whose sleep and waking are forever haunted

Thank you. I remember.

To the one whose courage never failed
To the one whose did
To the one who fought for the common man when the lords of power failed you
To the one who struggled for light when all was darkness

Thank you. I remember.

To the one who sees the indifference of this world
To the one who sees the rise of the enemy and wonders if it was all worth it
To the one who sees the power of evil through the lens of history
To the one who knows our fate if we forget

Thank you. I remember.
